The recent interview with rock star and papparrazzi favorite, John Mayer, in the March 2010 edition of Playboy Magazine has started a whirl of debates surrounding the guitar playing superstar’s candid and not so popular responses.  Despite the fact that most likely the playful comments were spoken quickly without thought of consequences and most likely taken out of context, John Mayer’s casual use of the N word and other comments have been shoved under a media microscope within the last 48 hours, causing public outrage, labeling him a supposed racist with a chauvinistic attitude.  Some of the most shocking and talked about quotes from the interview include:

“My d*ck is sort of like a white supremacist.”

“[Jessica Simpson] was like crack cocaine to me… Sexually, it was crazy.  That’s all I’ll say.  It was like napalm; sexual napalm.”

“I feel like women are getting their comeuppance against men now. I hear about man-whores more than I hear about whores. When women are whorish, they’re owning their sexuality. When men are whorish, they’re disgusting beasts.”

“Someone asked me the other day, ‘What does it feel like now to have a hood pas?’ …It’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a N*gger pass.”

However, after reading the interview as a whole and looking back on John Mayer’s general attitude towards media in the past, it is easy to see that the singer/guitar phenom meant no harm.  In fact, he was just speaking truthfully; not censoring his words for the overly sensitive media and public’s ears to hear.  Also within the interview, Mayer spoke a few kind words that the news channels have recently been leaving out of their recent reports.  It turns out the bloke actually does have a heart:

“I hate being the heartbreaker. Hate it. If I date somebody and it doesn’t work out, it’s another nightmare for me.”

“[Jennifer Anniston] is the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person.”

“I could have f*cked a lot more girls in my life if I hadn’t been trying so hard to get them to like me. If I have a conversation with a really hot girl that lasts all night and she says, ‘Wow, I had no idea I was going to like you this much,’ that is the equivalent, for me, of getting laid.”

At the end of the day, no matter what he actually meant, John Mayer is taking blows left and right from all sources over the said lack of discretion he had in speaking his mind.  Mayer has gone on an apologetic spree, apologizing first on his official twitter and then live in concert, where he was almost brought to tears by his own words.  Attention everybody, John Mayer is SORRY!  Isn’t it time to forgive and forget?  Watch the apology live here:
